We’ve mentioned before that many people prefer to illuminate their backyards with outdoor lighting. One way to brighten up your backyard with outdoor candle lanterns is to use paper candle lanterns.

A popular way to use paper candle lanterns is to put them on a string and run the string between posts or trees. This provides an interesting and fun way to brighten the area for events.

We previously mentioned paper candle lanterns and noted how they are made with specially formulated paper that is resistant to flame. Most paper lanterns use bamboo ribbing by which the paper is stretched over.

Many paper lanterns leave a hole so that any excess wax will drip through. However, to avoid any problems with flame or wax, the “fake candle” can also be used.

This candle is an LED battery operated “candle” which is completely safe (no flame) and offers a flickering light which mimics real candle light.

Nylon lanterns are similar in size and structure to paper lanterns. However, instead of bamboo, the ribbing is usually fire-resistant plastic and the paper is replaced by shimmering nylon.

Another alternative lanterns is the Silk Lantern.

Silk Lanterns are typically made with a hardened silk fabric that is stretched over a frame. These lanterns use the same LED battery-operated candle to prevent fire. One particular brand of silk lanterns (inspired by traditional Vietnamese lanterns) uses 100% Jacquard silk.

As you can see, the range of available outdoor candle lanterns is not just limited to lanterns constructed solely of metal.
