The most important part of a candle lantern is the lantern holder ( which ensures the candle is supported and protected from the elements). When you go to buy a lantern, you must first make sure that the lantern holder is durable and fire-proof. Typically, candle lanterns are made of metal, but there are paper lanterns which are composed of specially manufactured paper that is fire-resistant. Once you have ensured that the lantern holder is sufficient, you can then move onto location.
Another important concern as well for outdoor lights is where you will place it. Depending upon the unique characteristics of your home and garden, the possibilities and combinations are almost limitless.
A few ways in which candle lanterns can be used are;
- Placing a set of lanterns on a patio wall in order to illuminate the area around the wall.
- Using them to light rear or side entrances in order to provide security
- Lighting steps, pathways and driveways
- Placing candle lanterns on each porch post
- Hanging them from tree branches
